General surgery residency was completed at UCSF. He has been board-certified in plastic surgery since 1999. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Stanford University, where he continues mentoring plastic surgery trainees.
