Laser Skin Resurfacing - Happier, Younger-Looking Skin

If you’re looking to refresh your face without intensive surgeries or injections, you can contact Dr. Kirk A. Churukian to schedule an appointment for laser skin resurfacing.

Laser skin resurfacing is a cutting-edge process that involves using specialized lasers to rejuvenate your skin. Laser skin resurfacing is used to combat acne and scarred skin, as well as sun damaged skin or skin that’s just damaged from age. But before you decide to choose laser skin resurfacing, it’s important to learn more about the process to see whether it will work for you. Every case is different.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

It sounds intense, but it’s a relatively straightforward process. Your skin is made up of several layers, with the oldest (and most visibly damaged) layers right on top for the whole world to see. Laser skin resurfacing works by slowly and steadily removing those outermost layers to reveal the younger, smoother skin underneath.

Unlike plastic surgery, there’s no nipping or tucking involved. And unlike botox, there are no serious injections - there may be a simple injection of anesthetic to numb any stinging sensations, but if you’re shaky around needles there’s not much to fear when it comes to laser skin resurfacing.

Laser skin resurfacing is an effective and long-lasting method to brighten up your face and give yourself fresher, smoother looking skin. Depending on the results you want, it may take more than one treatment - but it’s still less intensive than plastic surgery or botox.

Does it Hurt?

It makes sense to wonder about pain. After all, we’re talking about lasers removing layers of your skin! However, laser skin resurfacing is a relatively minimal-pain procedure. As with the number of treatments you’ll want or need, the pain is relative. Deeper laser skin resurfacing treatments tend to hurt a little more, and may require a local anesthetic. If you choose non-ablative laser skin resurfacing, you won’t have to deal with much pain at all.

Laser skin resurfacing is an effective and safe alternative to plastic surgery and botox injections, but it still requires a bit of care after you’ve received treatment. You’ll have to keep your face bandaged and then regularly wash your face after the first day, and you can expect some swelling. It’s also a good practice to regularly apply petroleum jelly to prevent swelling.

Fortunately, laser skin resurfacing doesn’t require any overnight stays in hospitals. You go in, receive treatment, and go home afterwards - and in a few short weeks you’ll have smoother, younger looking skin.
