Getting Liposuction Surgery in San Jose, CA

Liposuction

There are many reasons why someone may want to pursue liposuction surgery. This could be for weight loss reasons to enhance your aesthetics or to try and make a healthier lifestyle going forward. With less weight on the body, this will also mean less strain and overexertion on joints, muscles, and other functional parts of the body. If you have tried many diets and are not seeing lasting positive results, then liposuction may be something that you could pursue. If you are doing liposuction for aesthetic purposes, then the added confidence you receive from liposuction could be life changing.

Liposuction Procedures

The process for liposuction is to remove fat cells from certain parts of a patient’s body. This could come from a variety of places on your body and is done by suctioning the fat out using a few different techniques. For example, your liposuction surgeon may remove fat from your:

  • Stomach
  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Under the chin

There are some other areas that are options to remove fat from as well, but these are the more common areas. If you are looking for a place to have your liposuction surgery in San Jose, CA, then consider a specialist from a plastic surgery center like that of Kirk A. Churukian, MD, FACS

Recovery Time

The recovery time for liposuction varies from person to person. There are some important things that your specialist will share with you regarding the procedure and each step of the recovery process. Generally, for a full recovery it takes about 2 to 3 months. Before this time though the patient will see different results depending on their health and age. After about a month, more strenuous exercise can take place. Staying hydrated and moving around is important throughout the recovery process. Your specialist will usually tell you to move around every few hours during the recovery process to ensure no blood clots.

Keeping the Weight Off

Liposuction is not a procedure that guarantees you to never gain fat again. While the procedure itself removes fat cells from certain parts of your body, it is still possible to gain weight in the future. This is why it is important to keep a healthy diet and to exercise. By exercising you can ensure that you will have a better chance of keeping weight off. A good and healthy diet consisting of healthy foods and proteins will help you to maintain the weight and look that you desire.
