Breast Reduction Surgery
Overly large sagging breasts can place a tremendous strain on the neck and shoulders causing aching and pain. Dr. Churukian can perform a breast reduction at his Los Gatos Surgery Center that will improve the shape and contour of the breast and also reduce the stress upon the neck and shoulders.
A light general anesthetic ensures your comfort, and you will feel the reduction in pain upon waking up. The immediate relief of pain and the improved contour make our reduction patients the happiest people in our office!
Breast Implant Revision
Breast implants do not last forever!
Breast implant revision is performed to replace an implant that has ruptured, been in place for more than ten years, or has an irregular contour. Revision surgery may also become necessary if a capsular contracture (an abnormally tight scar) forms around the implant.
Hard breasts are not normal breasts
Capsular contracture is one of the most common risks of breast augmentation and presents when the scar or capsule around the implant begins to tighten, squeezing the implant and causing the once soft breast to feel hard or painful. Capsular
contracture is in no way a medical threat. Dr. Churukian can treat this condition by removing all or part of the scar tissue and repositioning the implant. Often, revisional procedures have a shorter recovery than the original augmentation procedure.
Nipple/Areolar Reduction Surgery
Size matters!
Dr. Churukian can perform several types of nipple correction procedures, which include reducing oversized nipples, reducing the size of the areola, and reversing inverted nipples. Sometimes, as a result of breastfeeding or other reasons, a woman’s nipples are too large. Nipple reduction can be performed alone or in combination with a breast rejuvenation surgery.
The dark portion of the breast or “areola”, when over four and a half centimeters in diameter is considered “aesthetically” too large. The areola can be reduced at the same time as breast augmentation. The reduction of the nipple and the areola can improve the appearance and of the breast and does not compromise the sensitivity of the nipple.
Inverted Nipple Repair
Inverted nipples either lay flat against the breast or invert below the breast surface. Nipple inversion is caused by a shortened or scarred milk duct system running from the breast gland to the nipple. It can be corrected by surgically detaching the milk ducts which in turn returns the nipple to its normal position. Inverted nipple repair can be performed alone or at the same time as breast augmentation.
Gynecomastia defined
Medications, anabolic steroids, poor diet or hereditary disorders can cause the growth of glandular breast tissue in men. Most of Dr. Churukian’s patients with this condition do not feel comfortable going swimming or to the beach without a shirt. Men typically have to wear shirts with a pattern as solid color shirts fail to camouflage the enlarged breasts.
Gynecomastia corrected!
Dr. Churukian will contour the chest wall by removing glandular and fatty tissue through small incisions in our Los Gatos surgery center. In rare cases, additional skin must be removed to achieve the best result. Recovery time is short, and discomfort is typically minimal.
After your corrective Gynecomastia procedure, you will have the confidence you need to resume a full and active lifestyle. Regain confidence and self-esteem with the reduction of excessive breast tissue by taking the first step and contacting Dr. Churukian. We invite you to call, email, or visit us at our San Jose office.
Top Questions To Ask Your Surgeon Before Breast Surgery
Making the decision to undergo breast surgery is significant, and it’s important to gather all the necessary information upfront. Open communication with your surgeon will help you feel confident and informed. To assist you, we’ve compiled a list of essential questions to ask during your consultation.
What Are My Options For Surgery?
Every patient is unique, and surgical goals vary. Discuss the available procedures that align with your needs. Whether you’re considering augmentation, reduction, or reconstruction, understanding how each option aligns with your expectations is crucial.
Am I A Good Candidate For This Procedure?
Ask about the factors that determine whether you’re a suitable candidate. Your medical history, lifestyle, and goals will play a role in deciding if a particular procedure is right for you. This discussion can also help set realistic expectations.
What Results Can I Expect?
It’s important to understand what’s achievable. Your surgeon should explain how your chosen procedure will impact your appearance and discuss factors like symmetry, shape, and size to help you visualize the outcome.
What Type Of Anesthesia Will Be Used?
Knowing the type of anesthesia planned for your surgery is essential. Discuss how it will be administered, who will be monitoring you, and what you can expect during recovery.
How Long Will Recovery Take?
Understanding the recovery timeline is key to planning your post-surgery care. Ask about activity restrictions, when you can resume work, and how to minimize discomfort during healing.
What Are The Risks And Potential Complications?
While breast surgeries are generally safe, every procedure carries some risks. Be sure to ask about possible complications and how they’re handled. This information can help you weigh the benefits against any potential concerns.
What Will The Scars Look Like?
Ask your surgeon about the expected location and appearance of scars. Discuss strategies to minimize their visibility and learn about any recommended products or techniques to support proper healing.
How Should I Prepare For Surgery?
Proper preparation can contribute to a smoother experience. Your surgeon will guide you on pre-surgery steps like avoiding certain medications, dietary restrictions, and arranging for assistance during recovery.
What Happens If I’m Not Satisfied With The Results?
While most patients are pleased with their outcomes, it’s good to understand what steps will be taken if you feel your results need adjustment. This conversation can provide reassurance about your options.
What Costs Are Involved?
Understanding the financial aspect is essential. Ask for a clear breakdown of costs, including the surgeon’s fees, facility expenses, and follow-up appointments. This will help you budget accordingly.
Do You Have Before-and-After Photos Of Past Patients?
Viewing photos of patients who have undergone similar procedures can give you an idea of your surgeon’s capabilities. It’s also a great way to discuss specific preferences for your own procedure.
